Corporate Social Responsibility

We ensure that our business presence enhances the well-being of host communities

The KenolKobil Group is a socially responsible enterprise. We support sustainable socioeconomic, cultural and environmental development initiatives aimed at enriching the lives of the communities where we have business presence.

Central to our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) commitment is our policy to conduct business in a manner that is compatible with the needs of the local people. In this respect, we ensure that our business presence adds sustainable and measurable value to our host communities.

We have developed a comprehensive CSR strategy with a major focus on the education of bright children from poor backgrounds.  Accordingly, we have in place a multi-million Education Scholarship Fund. In addition to our key focus on education, we variously engage with our host communities in socio-economic, cultural and sporting activities.

By the virtue of hosting our Head Office, Kenya has the most comprehensive CSR calendar. In addition to the KenolKobil Education Scholarship Fund, we support Mama Ngina Children’s Home, Light and Hope Academy for Children with Disability in Kenya.

In Rwanda, we are a major corporate sponsor of the 1994 Genocide Survivors kitty and the annual Kwita Izina, the famous annual gorilla naming ceremony. In Burundi, we support the annual Burundi-Kenya Friendship Week while in Zambia; we sponsor the annual River Lure Fishing competition in Copperbelt Province as well as the annual Kwomboka Cultural Festival. In Uganda we support the annual Bika bya Buganda Football Tournament while in Ethiopia; we sponsor the annual Ethiopia Motor Rally.

Our CSR support to community initiatives is on the basis of need, resource availability, sustainability and project relevance to our corporate philosophy as carried in our slogan, KenolKobil Cares For You.
